Oden - Japanese Winter in a Bowl
We keep referring to uncountable food preparations as 'A warm hug 🤗' and more often than not, it is because the food/beverage is warm, and the temperatures outside are low enough to make you skip the rocks in your malt.
Is it enough to have just a temperature difference, anoint the crown of 'a warm hug' to any and all foods? Maybe, not.
Recently though, we had this piping hot bowl of Oden - a stew of winter vegetables (also an added boiled egg is such a delight! 😁) at this cosy Japanese diner in the city. It is a one-pot meal which is served with an almost-boiling broth of dashi. The bowl has Carrot, Fried Tofu, Daikon (Radish), Potato, Hakusai (White Cabbage, also called Napa Cabbage) and Braided/Twisted Konnyaku (Its a type of noodle made using Yam, quite a unique texture).
Oden is a part of the #SpecialsMenu at @bentob.restaurant and should not be missed, especially if you're a fan of clean and simple flavours! Speak to Chef Singh there, and let him know your preferences.
