
Bandel Cheese.
This was the first non-Amul cheese that I ever ate, when I was 6 years old. This national CBSE coordinator (who got the cheese), Mrs Shakuntala Bhattacharyya, was kind enough to give the entire packet to me because, well, I wasn't letting it go.. This cheese was my first ever interaction with the smoked flavour and the fondness for it has only grew ever since; but the last I ate this cheese was back in 1999 when a classmate's mother travelled back from Kolkata with some.
18 years later (yesterday) I was at weekend swag, loitering around the food section when Arina (a member of the group and the founder of food farmacy) happened to ask if I liked smokey flavours.. "Ofcourse!!!" And in seconds, I see this priceless piece of the smoked Bandel. One bite and I happened to travel back in time, thanking Mrs Bhattacharyya for introducing me to a world of food that wouldn't seize to surprise me! Thank you, Arina, for making this so easily accessible and making my day (and dad's!). If you've tried this cheese, I know you're headed to food farmacy at Weekend Swag in the evening; and if you haven't, you must! ₹150 for 5 bite-sized bits of heaven is absolutely worth it!
