#NewFind We totally forgot to share our exploration with @tapa_toro . Two weekends ago, we ordered from them, finally. We say finally, because we know of them since July, back when they used to operate from a home-kitchen. For some cosmic reason, our order was never processed and then we got busy and didn't chase it further. While recently browsing on Zomato, we stumbled upon them and learnt they are now a commercial food outlet! We stuck to what our dear friend @zeal.ashah had then recommended - Mexican! Our order went as follows: Burrito Bowl: Exotic Fajita in Harrisa sauce. We chose chimichurri sauce. Loaded Nachos Sour Cream and Guacamole Fajita Quesadilla Tacos: - Purple Yam with Harrisa sauce - Sweet Potato with sambal - Sauteed Mushrooms Korean Cream Bread The fault to order non home-delivery friendly items on the menu is entirely ours and nobody else's. The nachos, with all its freshest of ingredients and some amazing queso, came all lumpy by the time it reached us. Maybe should've requested to send the wet components separately. The tacos, all looked alike, and weren't labelled. So had to eat and play Gordon Ramsay in deciphering which one was which. That's our one feedback for Team @tapa_toro , do label the food which has been ordered in different fillings, for easy identification. Overall, good use of ingredients. Special mention the roasted salsa and sour cream. They don't claim to be authentic and hence there was no expectations mismatch. Except for Korean bread, which was more Italian in components, much like a focaccia pizza. We are so excited to have stumbled upon this place on a food delivery platform; that we have already had two meals from them in a span of four days. Serving vegetarian middle-eastern food, @tanoor.amd is the only place serving fatayers! Fatayers are traditional meat pies of levantine (popularly known as middle-eastern) cuisine, also made with vegetarian stuffings. Their cheese fatayer is so distinguished yet mellow. For mushroom and spice (not heat) lovers, we thoroughly enjoyed the deep flavours in the Musakkhan; it's a traditional Palestinian dish where the flatbread is stuffed. Both the aforementioned breads had mozzarella incorporated in the dough while rolling it which made the bread extremely moist and flavourful. The Vegetarian Lahem can be handed over an Oscar for almost tasting like meat without being non-vegetarian. All owing to their wise treatment of soya. We also ordered the Dips Platter and the Falafel platter. Both platters in themselves were so complete. The tzatziki, the baba ganoush are probably the best, since they were the freshest, we've had in Ahmedabad. I loved Muhammra for its richness and tartness, Rohan preferred the Bell Pepper hummus over it. I missed the obvious presence of garlic in the classic hummus, Rohan enjoyed the subtlety. The Khubus reaches you piping hot, and we equally enjoyed the crispy khubus! Idle for snacking mindlessly while binging on Netflix. So so so happy to have discovered this! We have been mourning the early demise of 'Tahini' restaurant for way too long. I may sound unnaturally pushy for all of you to try the food at @tanoor.amd to ensure that they stay alive and kicking for all of us to continue enjoying some fantastic Middle-Eastern food. Go! #NewFind Imagine a Butter Chicken with luscious gravy, seasoned and spiced accurately, consisting of perfectly cooked tender meat. That's what we craved for a couple of evenings ago when we decided to give @bhullarsbutterchickenco a try! And, we met just the right variant of Butter Chicken. I have been very cautious of eating meat since the time i got pregnant and hadn't had a good Butter Chicken in awhile. Mighty glad the one I had after eons was so rich and flavourful. The Chicken Tikka Malai Marke was ordered upon their recommendation and turned out to be a bomb! They also sent Dal Makhani and Chicken Tikka with their compliments. The Dal Makhani was way too rich for our personal preference, so much so that the generous use of makhan may have robbed the true density of its underlying flavours. The Chicken Tikka was supreme! I have been very cautious of eating meat since the time i got pregnant and hadn't had a good Butter Chicken in awhile. Mighty glad the one I had after eons was so rich and flavourful. The Chicken Tikka Malai Marke was ordered upon their recommendation and turned out to be a bomb! They also sent Dal Makhani and Chicken Tikka with their compliments. The Dal Makhani was way too rich for our personal preference, so much so that the generous use of makhan may have robbed the true density of its underlying flavours. The Chicken Tikka was supreme! Overjoyed at having stumbled upon this place! If it promises consistency over the next few repeat orders, they have a patron in us since the portions are also generous! So the family went to @thehouseofmg for lunch on Sunday to try the Bhavnagar Thali by Ritvija Mehta and got us one of the hidden treasures on the menu at The Green House - The Malpuva! Crisp on the edges and soft in the centre, these palm-sized discs won our hearts with the not-too-sweet ghee-yukt Malpuva. It is safe to say that these are the ones we've had at a restaurant in Ahmedabad, ever. Now, truth be told, Sunday ko yeh Malpuva khaake na pet bhara tha, na neeyat; so we thought it only makes sense to get another portion delivered within 24 hours of having the first one, so we shamelessly did so, yesterday. 😁 We've eaten this, both times, after atleast 45 minutes of it being made and it blew our minds. Cannot believe it's been a decade-long journey with the entire #FiAFamily , yet, everytime we discover something new, it's a whole new feeling, every single time. A few hours ago, we came across a pop-up for Tiramisu and the coffee-lovers that we are, we immediately called the number given, asked if there's anything available for last-minute requests like ours. Guess what!? We were in luck! We were told that the portion size is enough for two hungry souls. So we requested for two portions, ofcourse. 😜 The pick-up was from Latitude (Mithakali) between 11am and 2pm. We were on time, picked up our boxes, got home and took a spoonful, instantly after taking this photo and were so glad to taste a Tiramisu so close to the real deal! We were told that @tanaya_jolly , the one who made this fantastic dessert, learnt it at a cafe in Cambridge and has been practicing ever since. Ofcourse the key ingredient to the modern Tiramisu recipe is missing, but that has not stopped her from exploring the dessert. In a bakery universe of jack-of-all-trades, it's always refreshing to bump into those who have their focus on a single product - more power to your kind! Milk Matcha Bubble Tea Som Tam Salad - The game, here, is to ensure that the dressing is mixed well. I would recommend to refrigerate this before eating. Also, don't hold back on those peanuts. Why would the French - who are infamous for being patient and passionate for all-things-food, invent a quick-fix like the Baguette?! The rarest of the rare encounters with good baguettes in the city, have had us asking this question; and one of the most popular (and secretly, our favourite) story is - There was a point in time when the law had forbidden Bakers to wake up before 4am (Yup! This unlocks a whole universe of questions!) Now, traditional French breads take a long time to rise, and with this absurd law in place, getting fresh bread, early morning, would've been impossible. So the bakers deviced a recipe which would take lesser time to rise (lean dough); these loaves were thinner and longer than the other breads - which was done to reduce the time it took to bake the breads evenly! This quick-fix bread is what we now know as the French Baguette! There's an alternate theory which says that the handy and (literally) pocket-friendly Baguette was invented to stop the French metro workers from having to carry their knives (to cut the breads, ofcourse!) to work, to avoid mishaps in case of fights. Wow. There are a few more theories, but these are our favourite and we're sticking to them 🤣 How do you eat your baguette?!
