Beetroot Halwa Beetroot has been a, yet another, favourite vegetable. I love the earthiness in it's flavour profile! I would have raita made out of it for lunch, pretty regularly. So, today, when I couldn't fight the headache, I called quits on the nap and decided to kill time by putting to use the beetroot, in stock. The resultant Halwa or indian vegetable fudge(?) was decadant! Dal Palak Rice This is our favourite comfort meal, second only to Khichdi. Uses similar base ingredients, a different treatment, and tastes delicious! We love it because it is complete; rice + dal + greens/fibre. It has it all! A non-glamorous meal option, but oh-so-satisfying. Like a warm hug! Best Gujarati Dal ever! A few days ago I was agonized since I hadn't had a hot meal in a while owing to the odd hours at work; basically I missed my Mom's food. I pined for Gujarati Dal Bhaat and this was at later part of the night. We wrecked our brains and thought of all the Thali places we could go to but nothing resonated with my need for an accurate Gujju Dal. I'm not religious. The only reason I kept snug to 'Shah' is because it allowed me an access to Swami Vatsalyas at Derasars and their bottomless Dal + Tindola nu Shaak + Doodhpaak. 😍😍😍 Hence, one must understand that my standards for Gujarati Dal are set pretty high. Anyway. So, we stumbled upon the new Ame Gujarati on S.P.Ring Road and struck gold with the Perfectly Balanced Gujarati Dal. I'll go out of my limb and say, it is better than any thali places I've tried and I've grown up eating at Toran, Gopi, later at Vishalla and Rajwadu, Annkut, and Swaad Sadan. Was never entirely satiated with the Dal. But this was epic. Got myself some Steamed Rice and devoured a bucketful of this Bamaniya Dal (How it is labelled on their Menu). Note: I have cracked the recipe for Jamanvaar ni Dal with 90% accuracy of taste, and I'm really proud of myself. 😬 #IPaidForIt #FoodaholicsInAhmedabad #Foodaholics #Ahmedabad #Livetoeat #Foodhunt #Foodfind #Foodblog #Foodwriters #Food #FoodLove #Foodgasm #Foodporn #Foodstagram #Instafood #Foodnetwork #Foodfeed #Foodtalk #Foodtalkindia #PlacesToEatInAhmedabad #FoodInAhmedabad #ThingsToDoInAhmedabad

Probably among the most underrated restaurants in Ahmedabad currently, @madhavraoahmedabad has always hit the right spot with the food and the experience every single time! We've always seen them experimenting and upgrading the flavours while being in-line with their theme of Marathi-Konkni food. Spice and heat in their food is higher than usual and it's made in a way that no matter what your tolerance-level is, you'd still want to keep going at the food. Here's what we ate : Dahi Misal Pav Pani Puri Palak Makai Chaat Bharela Rotla ane Lasooni Tameta (served with some mind-blowing smoked peanut raita) Kaju Patra nu Shaak Palak Cheese Kofta with Laccha Paratha Pav Bhaji Dhungaredi Chhash Mohanthaal (don't miss this) We don't think we'd get bored of the food here anytime soon and that kaju-patra nu shaak would make sure of it! And that silken shrikhand too 😬 #IPaidForIt #FoodaholicsInAhmedabad #Foodaholics #Ahmedabad #Livetoeat #Foodhunt #Foodfind #Foodblog #Foodwriters #Food #FoodLove #Foodgasm #Foodporn #Foodstagram #Instafood #Foodnetwork #Foodfeed #Foodtalk #Foodtalkindia #PlacesToEatInAhmedabad #FoodInAhmedabad #ThingsToDoInAhmedabad

Toom Yum Upon @peacheskamath 's recommendation of Matcha Iced Tea from a "Legit Thai Food" (Her words) we had to try it! We were elated with the indisputably delicious and original Thai Food! Pluses: - Brilliant, Brilliant, tasting food! It is an orgasmic experience for the palate from the flavours packed in all their meal preparations - It is the Best Matcha Iced Tea, ever. Delicate and full-bodied. It comes in a DIY pack - One holds the warm Matcha, other holds the milk, and the third pack holds the ice. You put things together and then enjoy an unforgettable mouthfeel! - The Shrimp was amazing - The Pad thai came with the accompaniment of sugar, chilli, crushed peanuts, lemon - Just like how it's supposed to Minuses: - Poor, unappetising packaging. It came packed in plastic bags, tied with a string, much like how your Chai comes from the Tapris. Potli-Like. Just that the plastic bag was a better quality. - Unforgivably Hot food. Even the ones amongst us who had enviable spice tolerance were left seeking the extinguisher to douse the fire their palates were on. This also interfered in the potential 360 degree flavour experience - Sticky Rice was BAD. Bad. Period. - The order execution was poor. In the first order they forgot the Matcha Tea, and in the second order they forgot it's milk - Consistency. The first lot of Pad Thai Noodles came with flat noodles and the second lot came with Glass Noodles - We wish, the quantity justified the pricing Despite the weightage of disappointments being higher, we highly recommend this place. Because the food is just that good! I'm willing to overlook all things else, if they serve this spectacular flavours every time. For those who don't already know, we are a huge fan of Bengali sweets. Tried all the places and have been left disappointed by lack of accuracy in what most of them serve. We're extremely thankful for the #FiAFamily to have brought to our notice this Lil place called Kolkata Sweets, near Vastrapur. This was by far the best Cham-Cham we've have had, locally!! The Nulen Gur Rosogolla was sheer brilliance! Currently dreaming about this Cubano Sandwich we made a few months ago in the sheer frustration of not finding one in the city. Although, this underwent a lot of alterations and eventually it was askew of the original Cubano, but wth! A baguette from @lily_pond_bakery , buttered and pressed in the sandwich maker after being lined with smoked grilled chicken, dill pickles, cheddar + mozzarella, mustard! We could take contracts to make a kill for one of these sandwiches as my fees, right now 😭 #IPaidForIt #FoodaholicsInAhmedabad #Foodaholics #Ahmedabad #Livetoeat #Foodhunt #Foodfind #Foodblog #Foodwriters #Food #FoodLove #Foodgasm #Foodporn #Foodstagram #Instafood #Foodnetwork #Foodfeed #Foodtalk #Foodtalkindia #PlacesToEatInAhmedabad #FoodInAhmedabad #ThingsToDoInAhmedabad

@soulbrewcoffee_india #NewCoffeeShopInTown Replacing the dated Café Coffee Day outlet, Opp.GLS College, is a minimalistic yet mindfully aesthetic Coffee Shop called 'Soul Brew'. We had visited their outlet in Vadodara a few years ago and remember leaving the space, impressed. The Brew is great! Tried the Iced Latte (Sugarless) and the Iced Tall Black. They have a countable few options for a snack and we loved that concept. Just like @brewgarten ; 'focus on the coffee'. We tried the Tomato, Cheese, Basil sandwich, and it was a great accompaniment to the beverages. The acoustics of the place are disrupted as soon as the place gets filled with citizens, lacking the basic civic sense of speaking in tolerable decibel range, while in public spaces. Anywho, we're happy with this new haunt! Standard Thaali @thambibhavan As basic as a South Indian meal can get and the thing about any South Indian meal (Tam-Brahm or Andhra or Mangalorean or Kannadiga or Malayali) is that if is eaten rightly, it hits the right chords of the appetite, or else someone trying it for the first time might wonder what's the big deal about a platter full of food. There are unsaid rules of the Thaali, the most important one being - Begin in Moderation. For the first few Andhra meals I ate, I was asked to skip a meal prior to it so that I could do justice to the food. Noone told me that the thing with rice is - it fills you up really fast. The game is to start slow! Taste the Puri with the Korma and then stop. The Puri is extremely notorious and would fill you up real quick. Stick to the rice. Now everyone has their own ways of eating the rice, I usually taste the pickle first, if it's good I mix the plain rice with the pickle and let it sit for a bit. This allows the pickle oil to get into the rice and taste so much better. To this, I'd add the sambhar and mix well. Crush some Papad into it and have some on the side too alongwith the Poriyal (this helps break the monotony of the texture) Bon Appetit! 😄 Save some room for the Payasam! It is extremely comforting! Cheers n Happy Eatin'!! P.S - It's almost as if a huge wave of South Indian restaurants has hit Ahmedabad again although I miss something as authentic and mind-blowing as Coconut Grove; what an experience! #IPaidForIt #FoodaholicsInAhmedabad #Foodaholics #Ahmedabad #Livetoeat #Foodhunt #Foodfind #Foodblog #Foodwriters #Food #FoodLove #Foodgasm #Foodporn #Foodstagram #Instafood #Foodnetwork #Foodfeed #Foodtalk #Foodtalkindia #PlacesToEatInAhmedabad #FoodInAhmedabad #ThingsToDoInAhmedabad
