The fare at the ongoing KBC Festival at @doubletreeahmedabad KBC, short for Kebabs - Biryani - Curries, ferries around a lot of peripherals of Mughlai cuisine from Nizami, Lucknavi, Afghani, etc. The festival has a live counters for the Shami Kebab. The tikkas, rotis and Seekh Kebab can be seen being made through the looking glass of the open kitchen. The Soups, Curries, Biryanis and the accompaniments are served as a buffet. There's also a quirky truck-like setup for the beverages near the musicians, who create some interesting jugalbandi between the Sitar and Tabla. The menu is going to be rotational and hence it will be cruel to lure you by labelling all that we were served. Look at the pictures and know that edit had no role to play in making them appear drool-some. The food came with its own meritorious appeal. Are you a Rumali roti fan? I know, I am. And so is @eshashah12 ; and despite our quest for an amazing Rumali since years, we aren’t in possession of a single recommendation of a mindblowing Rumali. “What is a mind-blowing Rumali?!”, you ask. Well, if we had to define it – a Rumali would need to have a soft, almost feathery touch. Made from a well-rested dough, roll so thin that light can pass through it, and it would be tough for us to call it a Rumali if it did not contain an egg. There will need to be a slight bit of sweetness which would be countered by the salt in the butter that would wash the roti as soon as it came off the tava. This roti, when eaten just by itself, should have all the flavours and not leave one, wanting for more. That, for us, is a Rumali roti. Now, since we are in a city where wanting an egg in the rumali is a luxury; we might also settle for a substitute which is largely used by restaurants all over the country – banana. Hell, we are at that point in our hunger journey that if we don’t find a good Rumali, we might just swear off of it! (not there there’ll be any other option!) So here’s me asking you for recommendations for your favourite place for a Rumali roti. Which is that one restaurant that has satiated your cravings?! The Karaari Rumali/Rumali ki tokri is a fantastic way to repurpose the Rumali ka aata! If only there was an easier way to eat this massive basket, without making a mess on the table! But what joy! Are you a Rumali roti fan? I know, I am. And so is @eshashah12 ; and despite our quest for an amazing Rumali since years, we aren’t in possession of a single recommendation of a mindblowing Rumali. “What is a mind-blowing Rumali?!”, you ask. Well, if we had to define it – a Rumali would need to have a soft, almost feathery touch. Made from a well-rested dough, roll so thin that light can pass through it, and it would be tough for us to call it a Rumali if it did not contain an egg. There will need to be a slight bit of sweetness which would be countered by the salt in the butter that would wash the roti as soon as it came off the tava. This roti, when eaten just by itself, should have all the flavours and not leave one, wanting for more. That, for us, is a Rumali roti. Now, since we are in a city where wanting an egg in the rumali is a luxury; we might also settle for a substitute which is largely used by restaurants all over the country – banana. Hell, we are at that point in our hunger journey that if we don’t find a good Rumali, we might just swear off of it! (not there there’ll be any other option!) So here’s me asking you for recommendations for your favourite place for a Rumali roti. Which is that one restaurant that has satiated your cravings?! The Karaari Rumali/Rumali ki tokri is a fantastic way to repurpose the Rumali ka aata! If only there was an easier way to eat this massive basket, without making a mess on the table! But what joy! If it hasn't to you then read on! 🤩 Imagine world cuisine, then imagine ingredients true to the roots of that cuisine. Now place that food onto elegant dinner ware, which is on a table set in a luxuriously designed restaurant. That's @nosh_ahmedabad for you. When you enter the space, a lot of pink, black, and golden welcomes you. From a seating arrangement which mimics sitting inside a Charlotte cake to linear table placement, it says - "All sizes of groups welcome here!". The hero spatial element at nosh is the tree right in the centre of the restaurant which is built by local artisans and made to look like the Japanese cherry blossom tree! The food, like described earlier, compliments this beautiful ambiance. The place serves World Cuisine and it has excluded Indian food from this. @coffeebydibella #OpenNow This twenty-two year old Australian full-service coffee company has been in India for a few years now. It has finally opened it doors to Ahmedabad, at Sindhu Bhavan Road. We paid a morning visit and the baristas exuded so much warmth and confidence that I was optimistic of my coffee being taken care of. Unfortunately for me, they do not serve cold brew so I decided to go full rogue and jump to the other extreme of my spectrum. Ordered a Spanish Latte, a staff recommended Coffee by Di Bella Special, with condensed milk, espresso, freshly whipped cream - the shebang! I also ordered for an affogato because I felt fancy at 11am, just one of those days. I'm glad that at seven months Aadhya is not equipped to judge her mother's caffeine approach based on the day's order 😂 We also ordered the Rose Cardamom Frappe purely upon recommendation of a fellow member of #FiAFamily, @drcooksgoodfood , who couldn't endorse this enough when we broke the news of CDB's launch to the city, a few weeks ago. That story broke our internet and it was quite surprising to see how the people of Ahmedabad were excited. The coffees and frappe were good! Infact, the waffle batter was also as good as we remembered it to be. Albeit, not as soft. The staff was warm and accomodating of two large individuals, one infant, and her stroller 😂 They are yet to launch the food, althought its the coffee that has our hearts going! Welcome to Ahmedabad.
