Never have we ever had such good South Indian breakfast in such a beautiful outdoorsy setup. A self-service restaurant, @sambar.cafe is located near Bopal Dental College, a little ahead of Pleasure Club on Bopal Ghuma road. We chose a super-chilly morning for our breakfast and instantly were in awe of the naturally-created ambiance, thanks to that magnanimous tree! We had the following : Mysuru Masala Dosa Masala Dosa Puri with South Indian Masala Vada - Sambar Idiyappam with Stew Thair Vada Special mention to the softness of the Vada 😍 The filter coffee inspired us, just about enough, to explore the plant nursery next door! We did pick a few saplings (on the next visit I'm definitely getting that ajwain plant!) We lost complete track of time, that's how peaceful it was that morning! Definitely going there soon, for more, hoping to meet the people who run this beautiful place! What's your breakfast today?! #IPaidForIt #FoodaholicsInAhmedabad #Foodaholics #Ahmedabad #Livetoeat #Foodhunt #Foodfind #Foodblog #Foodwriters #Food #FoodLove #Foodgasm #Foodstagram #Instafood #Foodnetwork #Foodfeed #Foodtalk #Foodtalkindia #PlacesToEatInAhmedabad #FoodInAhmedabad #ThingsToDoInAhmedabad #AhmedabadFoodies

We're loving how we're going retro with all the Butter-Cream Pastries and have parked ourselves outside the '90s! @uppercrust_restaurantandbakery is on the same nostalgia-bus as us, and has introduced the Old-fashioned Pastries. We saw their IG post and within minutes, placed an order and got them for us. Such melt-in-the-mouth pastries! Damn! And the best part is, alongwith the usual eggless version, they also have a version where the sponge of the pastries has egg! Yes, I'm sure you know it by now, we LOVE eggs in our cakes! The nostalgic fool in me, has a special place in my heart for the taste of everything I've eaten as a child! The quest, for more, continues.. #IPaidForIt #FoodaholicsInAhmedabad #Foodaholics #Ahmedabad #Livetoeat #Foodhunt #Foodfind #Foodblog #Foodwriters #Food #FoodLove #Foodgasm #Foodstagram #Instafood #Foodnetwork #Foodfeed #Foodtalk #Foodtalkindia #PlacesToEatInAhmedabad #FoodInAhmedabad #ThingsToDoInAhmedabad #AhmedabadFoodies

Most of us know him as @wannabechef__ and quite a lot know his undying passion for Thai and Indian food but it is extremely personal when I tell you that I know of @v_aminz since a time when every Tuesday, he used to cook a seafood meals for his Parents' Dinner Date and boy oh boy have we come a long way from there! And that's why, the minute we learned about the Thotha Pop-up today at @the_sizzlingswad , we knew we HAD to see him in action serving up some great food! For everyone who has been trying his recipes since a long time, don't need to be told about the taste of his food; but let me tell you this - His food tastes wayy better than what it looks in pictures! This afternoon we had two lunches from two diverse cuisines of India. While @rohanbhatt will tell you about the other one, I would like to share our experience with our first lunch for the day. 'Thali of Sindh' from the on going Sindhi Food Festival at @thegreenhouse_thehouseofmg . This is from their weekend collaboration with a homechef, @handlewithfood . My primary reason to order this thali was for the Dal Pakwaan which has been on my mind since a week now. In the pre-covid era, I'd have driven to Juna Wadaj and had the Dal Pakwaan off the streets, but in current times, I look out for more cleaner and hygienic solutions to my manic cravings for anything street-y. The food came in a huge 'House of MG' special tiffin bag, with each item neatly and separately packed. While my Dal Pakwaan craving was satiated without a trace of doubt, what was delightful was everything else that came alongwith! The Thom wari Bhindi and Bhee ki sabzi was a source of satisfaction for anyone who like the two vegetables and garlic! The macaroni and fox nuts sabzi overruled my primary cynicism of it. Kheerni was joyful! For 776 incl. of taxes (my swiggy genie charges were extra) the meal clearly served two adults with a decent appetite. To someone like me, for whom it is not an everyday meal, labelling the containers would've come handy. #IPaidForIt #FoodaholicsInAhmedabad #Foodaholics #Ahmedabad #Livetoeat #Foodhunt #Foodfind #Foodblog #Foodwriters #Food #FoodLove #Foodgasm #Foodstagram #Instafood #Foodnetwork #Foodfeed #Foodtalk #Foodtalkindia #PlacesToEatInAhmedabad #FoodInAhmedabad #ThingsToDoInAhmedabad

The Vanishing Khaosuey The thing about a collaborative initiative or a pop-up or a takeover is, you don't really know who to talk about! Then I guess, that's the whole point of it, of both of them having created a unique event of rare occurrence. Instagram is a mad universe of beautiful food pictures and if you're as food-triggered as we are, you wouldn't help but think - "Yaar, how would this have tasted!?" We keep asking ourselves that when we look at the food made by home-chefs. All thanks to @seasaltcafe.ahm we finally did get to try it! @bowledoverbykari is an Instagram account by Karishma Mehta, a lawyer-turned-homechef (yay one more on this side of the fence! 😄). By popular demand, she branched out into making and sharing recipes of some gorgeous meals-in-a-bowl. Last Sunday, she took over @seasaltcafe.ahm for a 'Cosy Sunday Meal' and offered the following : Veggie/Spicy Mushroom Ramen Khaosuey Tofu Carpaccio Now, there's something you need to know about @eshashah12 , she sees the word 'Khaosuey' and needs a bowlful within the next 24 hours. And hence, our request was obvious! @chef.in.the.making , of Sea Salt Cafe, knows our obsession and excitement about good food; infact she shares that sentiment too and was kind enough to send us the Ramen and Carpaccio (There was a lot of food on our table! A lot!) The Ramen was loaded with Button and Shimeji Mushrooms which instantly made sure the house smelled divine! We're loving how more restaurants are using and familiarising the city with Shiitake, Portabello and Oysters too! And, while I was still digging into the bowlful of Ramen, somewhere on the other side of the table, somebody (I won't tell who!) made themselves a proper bowl of Khaosuey, shared half of it with my sister and finished the whole lot! #Satyavachan All I could taste was a couple of spoonfuls and can only imagine how intense it would've been! And hence as a sign of protest against this injustice, the Carpaccio was not shared with anyone but the father, which tasted so much better after a few moments of the silken tofu having rested in the flavourful Soy! We were indeed Bowled Over by Kari! How was your Sunday? #IPaidForIt

After a long we re-experienced what an FiA enquiry does to you - it overwhelms the living soul out of you! We craved a good Saag-Roti combination, a few days ago, which was triggered by the fantastic meal sent by Arvinder Aunty (for everyone who's walked into the FiA FoodBelt at Weekend Window, know her as Maa who makes lip-smacking Chole Bhature!) Well, we were flooded with recommendations and the truth is - we did not know there were so many home-chefs who make such intense traditional Punjabi delicacies. @mridu_parikh , a Punjabi, married into a Gujarati family and settled in Ahmedabad, is an old member of the FiA Family and even participated at the #FiAStudio at the FoodBelt (oh how we miss WW). She discovered a whole new entrepreneurial spirit thereafter and deep-dived into serving the city her home-cooked meals. And as luck would have it, her weekend menu pleasantly crossed paths with our weekend cravings! The saag was delicious enough by itself but the makke di roti and white butter brought together the sharpness of ginger in the saag. The pickle was a delight to eat, too! #IPaidForIt #FoodaholicsInAhmedabad #Foodaholics #Ahmedabad #Livetoeat #Foodhunt #Foodfind #Foodblog #Foodwriters #Food #FoodLove #Foodgasm #Foodstagram #Instafood #Foodnetwork #Foodfeed #Foodtalk #Foodtalkindia #PlacesToEatInAhmedabad #FoodInAhmedabad #ThingsToDoInAhmedabad

To say that we had the most gratifying Indian meal, in a very long time, will not be a tall claim. Before I move onto tell you about the food, I want to tell you about the individual behind the food. Aman Sharma is a two year old member of the #FiAFamily and gathered recognition from the fellow members with his #DhabaTrails. His exploration of rustic food was blazing! Early into his time with the community, he approached us to be a part of the #FiAStudio at Weekend Window and served some A-level Daal Makhni to everyone who visited! No sooner did people taste his food, they were left longing for more. And our hearts swelled when we learnt that he now has a weekend kitchen called @pushtainiz (mind you, it's very aptly named) while holding onto his full-time desk-job. We waited for a time when we had our extended family to be able to try more food. And we regretted having waited all this while! Our order consisted of: Smokey Dal Makhni combo (served with 2 laccha paratha) Rajma Combo (served with rice) Lal paneer combo (served with 2 laccha paratha) Koyla Butter paneer Pakode ka Pullav with Boondi Raita Extra Laccha Paratha The food was such a refreshing change from the same old gravies and curries that we've been encountering in the recent past. There is something about the proper quality of ingredients that is evident in the taste and how comfortable one feels immediately after the meal. This meal from @pushtainiz easily ranks in the aces, as far as the taste and quality is concerned. Aman was kind enough to offer us a portion of Dhungar Lal Soya Chaap And the Gulab Gulkand ki Kheer. The Kheer is worth saving an appetite for! Like the rest of the food, even the dessert is made with a lot of love and had been given ample time to thicken. We were full, yet, we could not stop eating the deliciousness that this Kheer was. 1545 for the meal (sans the Soya Chaap and Gulkand Kheer) Such success stories are Foodaholics in Ahmedabad's success stories, in extension..and it is only a humble reminder of how gifted we are as a community! May the world be blessed with more Aman Sharmas! #IPaidForIt #FoodaholicsInAhmedabad #Foodaholics #Ahmedabad #FoodinAhmedabad

May the world be blessed with more Aman Sharmas! #IPaidForIt #FoodaholicsInAhmedabad #Foodaholics #Ahmedabad #FoodinAhmedabad

"This beauty has been aged in wine barrels!" How's that for an introductory line for a coffee? We cannot emphasise on the glaring after-taste of oak and grapes, which is an iteration of the former occupants of that barrel, where the beans were stored. This barrel-aged cold brew by @thedarkroast , is our newest favourite until they are willing to serve it to us without getting intimidated by our addiction. 200 for a serving! #IPaidForIt #FoodaholicsInAhmedabad #Foodaholics #Ahmedabad #FoodInAhmedabad #AhmedabadFood #LiveToEat #Foodhunt #Foodfinds #Foodblogger #Food #FoodLover #Foodstagram #Instafood #Foodnetwork #Foodfeed #Foodtalkindia #BornOnInstagram #YourFoodLab #FoodCreator #Coffee

#TakeoutThursdays Papadum, by @terrafoodco . #IPaidForIt We had one of the most electrifying meal of the year 2020! Right when we thought that the local food scene had taken a breather, Papadum enters our lives to reinstate faith in the city's perception of Indian food. Papadum's menu focusses on Keralean and partly-Mangalorean (Malabari, if one had to be specific) delicacies and boy, have they got the flavours going! The food tasted home-made equivalent (the kind that is made with extra love) and the masalas seemed to have been roasted minutes before the food was prepared. The Ghee Rice is a meal in itself! They have gone a step further and have used Kaima rice instead of the corrupted version, using Basmati. Trivia - Kaima rice is also known as jeerakasala rice and is used in making the famed Calicut Biryani. The grain is finer, almost like that of Shahi Jeera and imparts a beautiful taste with the mildest of the spices. In frame is: Chicken Sukka, Veg Stew, Egg Nadan Roast, Chicken Kozhambu, Ghee Rice, Neer Dosa, Appam, Parota, Payasam, and Papadum (duh!) The spice level (not to be mistaken for the heat) has a personality of its own! The dry coconut masala in Chicken Sukka, the incredibly comforting veg stew, the whole garlic cloves in Egg Nadan Roast, the characteristic Chicken Kuzhambo, and The finisher, dal payasam, left us in a spell of food high. I do not recollect the last time I ordered for a village and ate for a village. A meal enough for three pax came to 1491. Since they were inactive on Swiggy/Zomato at that precise moment, we placed an order directly with the number provided. Cheers & Happy Eatin'! #FoodaholicsInAhmedabad #Foodaholics #Ahmedabad #FoodInAhmedabad #AhmedabadFood #LiveToEat #Foodhunt #Foodfinds #Foodblogger #Food #FoodLover #Foodstagram #Instafood #Foodnetwork #Foodfeed #Foodtalkindia #BornOnInstagram #YourFoodLab #PlacesToEatinAhmedabad
