For those who don't already know, we are a huge fan of Bengali sweets. Tried all the places and have been left disappointed by lack of accuracy in what most of them serve. We're extremely thankful for the #FiAFamily to have brought to our notice this Lil place called Kolkata Sweets, near Vastrapur. This was by far the best Cham-Cham we've have had, locally!! The Nulen Gur Rosogolla was sheer brilliance! We are fortunate to have made it their just in time for their last batch before the end of Nulen Gur's Season. 😃 Unforgettable Palate Experience. #MustTry #IPaidForIt #FoodaholicsInAhmedabad #Foodaholics #Ahmedabad #Livetoeat #Foodhunt #Foodfind #Foodblog #Foodwriters #Food #FoodLove #Foodgasm #Foodporn #Foodstagram #Instafood #Foodnetwork #Foodfeed #Foodtalk #Foodtalkindia #PlacesToEatInAhmedabad #FoodInAhmedabad #ThingsToDoInAhmedabad

Currently dreaming about this Cubano Sandwich we made a few months ago in the sheer frustration of not finding one in the city. Although, this underwent a lot of alterations and eventually it was askew of the original Cubano, but wth! A baguette from @lily_pond_bakery , buttered and pressed in the sandwich maker after being lined with smoked grilled chicken, dill pickles, cheddar + mozzarella, mustard! We could take contracts to make a kill for one of these sandwiches as my fees, right now 😭 #IPaidForIt #FoodaholicsInAhmedabad #Foodaholics #Ahmedabad #Livetoeat #Foodhunt #Foodfind #Foodblog #Foodwriters #Food #FoodLove #Foodgasm #Foodporn #Foodstagram #Instafood #Foodnetwork #Foodfeed #Foodtalk #Foodtalkindia #PlacesToEatInAhmedabad #FoodInAhmedabad #ThingsToDoInAhmedabad

@soulbrewcoffee_india #NewCoffeeShopInTown Replacing the dated Café Coffee Day outlet, Opp.GLS College, is a minimalistic yet mindfully aesthetic Coffee Shop called 'Soul Brew'. We had visited their outlet in Vadodara a few years ago and remember leaving the space, impressed. The Brew is great! Tried the Iced Latte (Sugarless) and the Iced Tall Black. They have a countable few options for a snack and we loved that concept. Just like @brewgarten ; 'focus on the coffee'. We tried the Tomato, Cheese, Basil sandwich, and it was a great accompaniment to the beverages. The acoustics of the place are disrupted as soon as the place gets filled with citizens, lacking the basic civic sense of speaking in tolerable decibel range, while in public spaces. Anywho, we're happy with this new haunt! Have a great weekend! 🙂 #IPaidForIt #FoodaholicsInAhmedabad #Foodaholics #Ahmedabad #Livetoeat #Foodhunt #Foodfind #Foodblog #Foodwriters #Food #FoodLove #Foodgasm #Foodporn #Foodstagram #Instafood #Foodnetwork #Foodfeed #Foodtalk #Foodtalkindia #PlacesToEatInAhmedabad #FoodInAhmedabad #ThingsToDoInAhmedabad

Standard Thaali @thambibhavan As basic as a South Indian meal can get and the thing about any South Indian meal (Tam-Brahm or Andhra or Mangalorean or Kannadiga or Malayali) is that if is eaten rightly, it hits the right chords of the appetite, or else someone trying it for the first time might wonder what's the big deal about a platter full of food. There are unsaid rules of the Thaali, the most important one being - Begin in Moderation. For the first few Andhra meals I ate, I was asked to skip a meal prior to it so that I could do justice to the food. Noone told me that the thing with rice is - it fills you up really fast. The game is to start slow! Taste the Puri with the Korma and then stop. The Puri is extremely notorious and would fill you up real quick. Stick to the rice. Now everyone has their own ways of eating the rice, I usually taste the pickle first, if it's good I mix the plain rice with the pickle and let it sit for a bit. This allows the pickle oil to get into the rice and taste so much better. To this, I'd add the sambhar and mix well. Crush some Papad into it and have some on the side too alongwith the Poriyal (this helps break the monotony of the texture) Bon Appetit! 😄 Save some room for the Payasam! It is extremely comforting! Cheers n Happy Eatin'!! P.S - It's almost as if a huge wave of South Indian restaurants has hit Ahmedabad again although I miss something as authentic and mind-blowing as Coconut Grove; what an experience! #IPaidForIt #FoodaholicsInAhmedabad #Foodaholics #Ahmedabad #Livetoeat #Foodhunt #Foodfind #Foodblog #Foodwriters #Food #FoodLove #Foodgasm #Foodporn #Foodstagram #Instafood #Foodnetwork #Foodfeed #Foodtalk #Foodtalkindia #PlacesToEatInAhmedabad #FoodInAhmedabad #ThingsToDoInAhmedabad

@vertu.thelounge #NewTerraceRestaurant #IPaidForIt Lately, both of us have been combating odd and demanding hours at our respective primary professions, making it difficult to explore new places in town, à la FDFS. However, we did sneak in a dinner this Saturday at an all new place (to us), Vertu. Located on the terrace of a five-storeyed building, on Thaltej-Hebatpur road, this restaurant is open to sky. It promises a cityscape of the New West zone of Ahmedabad. But, for those who prefer only globally accepted signature skylines can choose the available indoor seating 😋 The menu is quite extensive with some eclectic mix of things, qualifying it to be 'global'. Turns out the owner/chef wanted to keep something for everyone who visits. We tried the following for a total of 1300ish. Kokum Cooler Ratatouille on Toast Oats Bhel Egg Kothu Paratha Jamaican Jerk Chicken The Kokum Cooler was refreshing! In the hindsight, owing to the alfresco set-up and the chill, I should’ve opted for something warm and cozy! That one is on me. The Ratatouille on Toast is a good swing of the original recipe. The Oats/Muesli Bhel took us by surprise, it grows on you! Something that summers would totally enjoy. The Egg Kottu Parotha stole the show and everything a winter evening needed! The Jamaican Jerk Chicken was well spiced and the side of salad and fries was complimenting. The aesthetics and location, combined with good food, makes it a promising contender for all the late-night-lounge sessions! Cheers & Happy Eatin'! #FoodaholicsInAhmedabad #Foodaholics #Ahmedabad #Livetoeat #Foodhunt #Foodfind #Foodblog #Foodwriters #Food #FoodLove #Foodgasm #Foodporn #Foodstagram #Instafood #Foodnetwork #Foodfeed #Foodtalk #Foodtalkindia #PlacesToEatInAhmedabad #FoodInAhmedabad #ThingsToDoInAhmedabad

Somewhere between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, on the banks of Sabarmati, is The River Farm - an initiative by a super-enthusiastic Urban Farmer, where you can rent small Farmlets and grow your own vegetables and fruits, with the help of the resident farmers. The community farming angle has been introduced where, they would put together a mixed basket of vegetables from all the Farmlets and sent to you weekly. We learnt about this place a few weeks ago when a friend took up a farmlet on rent. The Khedut in me immediately took details and planned a visit here. It is a little tricky getting here, but once you reach, you'd not want to move out. Fresh vegetables growing around you - Tomatoes (cherry, sweet and sour), Brinjal, Broccoli, Carrots, Methi, Dill (Suva/Sava), Sugarcane, Sweet Potato (Brown and Purple), Paapdi, Zucchini, Coriander, Rocket Leaves, Spinach, Methi, Fennel, Lemongrass, Basil, Lettuce and what not! It's a wonderland! Tanya, the one who runs and operates The River Farm, made sure we got a taste of the farm (quite literally!) because we got to eat straight-off-the-plant tomatoes and freshly plucked rocket leaves on the move. It's great to have something like this within one's reach! Looking forward to the next week's harvest (yes, we did get ourselves a small farmlet almost instantly! 😬) Tagging the page for more details. @urbankhetti @the_river_farm #UrbanFarming #IPaidForIt #FoodaholicsInAhmedabad #Foodaholics #Ahmedabad #Livetoeat #Foodhunt #Foodfind #Foodblog #Foodwriters #Food #FoodLove #Foodgasm #Foodporn #Foodstagram #Instafood #Foodnetwork #Foodfeed #Foodtalk #Foodtalkindia #PlacesToEatInAhmedabad #FoodInAhmedabad #ThingsToDoInAhmedabad #FarmletsOnRent #Farming

@we_knead_it #NewPlaceInTown #IPaidForIt A pitstop at the newest bakery, yesterday, revealed a new promise of great desserts. We tried a couple of things at this very swanky outlet, and what outshined the rest was their Tea-licious Cake. Made from Almond Flour this Matcha Cake is all glory and no faff. The rich layers of cream cheese help break the monotony from the coarse almond flour. Do be informed that owing to its cost of ingredients, at 306, the slice of this cake is tad higher than most 'pastries'. Equally impressive was their Choco Almond Flourless cake, and The Carrot Cake! Lot's more to try though. Will need more than two stomach-fuls in the next visit. Has the potential to become a post-meal late-night haunt for the ones blessed with a sweet tooth. 😃 #FoodaholicsInAhmedabad #Foodaholics #Ahmedabad #Livetoeat #Foodhunt #Foodfind #Foodblog #Foodwriters #Food #FoodLove #Foodgasm #Foodporn #Foodstagram #Instafood #Foodnetwork #Foodfeed #Foodtalk #Foodtalkindia #PlacesToEatInAhmedabad #FoodInAhmedabad #ThingsToDoInAhmedabad

You know how, sometimes (especially during a bout of flu), you have this mad craving of eating something spicy? I've been craving for something similar since a couple of days. Landed up at Banana Leaf, near shyamal and the first thing I see on their menu is a Jeera Milagu Rasam; the description said it contained Jeera, Tomato and Pepper. We requested for a portion of the same and the soupy bliss was on the table in no time. A spoonful in, and I knew I found the spice I was looking for! Sour and pepper-ey with a good amount of ginger. Perfect fix! This is probably the best version of Rasam I've had in Ahmedabad so far! A must-have. We tried a few things on the menu including the Mysore Masala Dosa which, like the service we experienced, is nothing to write home about. Nonetheless, the Rasam has the power to take me there again and try a few more things from their menu. Any recommendations are more than welcome! #IPaidForIt #FoodaholicsInAhmedabad #Foodaholics #Ahmedabad #Livetoeat #Foodhunt #Foodfind #Foodblog #Foodwriters #Food #FoodLove #Foodgasm #Foodporn #Foodstagram #Instafood #Foodnetwork #Foodfeed #Foodtalk #Foodtalkindia #PlacesToEatInAhmedabad #FoodInAhmedabad #ThingsToDoInAhmedabad

#IPaidForIt A Rubik's Cube Cake for our six year old nephew's birthday, who is currently obsessed with successfully solving it lika boss! Puts us to shame, but that's a rant for another time. @suvritti of @7violettes ensured that we left him in an awe when he sees the cake which was nearly three times the size of his real toy. Right from consultation , to proactivity, the precision, the timely production, and most importantly the spot on 'Rich Chocolate Cake' left us feeling extremely happy to have chosen them for the occasion! @7violettes you guys outshone yourself, once again. All our guests and especially, Yuvaan, our guest of honor were extremely thrilled with what they saw and how amazing it tasted! Meet the best Apple Pie that there is in Ahmedabad. A crumbling buttery well baked pie crust lined with Granny Smith apples. Served with a swoop of custard, some berry coulis and vanilla ice cream. The mouth-feel of this pie is Rich and will leave you wanting for more. Do not make the mistake of ordering just one, even if it's only you who is dining. The rest of the food, we are afraid, doesn't meet the standards that their Glade One site has set for us. #IPaidForIt #FoodaholicsInAhmedabad #Foodaholics #Ahmedabad #Livetoeat #Foodhunt #Foodfind #Foodblog #Foodwriters #Food #FoodLove #Foodgasm #Foodporn #Foodstagram #Instafood #Foodnetwork #Foodfeed #Foodtalk #Foodtalkindia #PlacesToEatInAhmedabad #FoodInAhmedabad #ThingsToDoInAhmedabad

#FiAinSurat There are 2 ways to explore any new place - one is you make your own data, that is, you experience the city without anyone's recommendations and make your own list of must-haves. This takes a little while longer (but it's absolutely worth it!). The other is to go by an exhaustive list of places recommended by people who've done the above-mentioned exercise over years. @rohanbhatt chose the latter. Here's the list of places that were explored and fallen in love with: 1. Madhi ni Khamni 2. Surti Petis 3. Gokulam coco 4. Ambaji vada pav 5. Bhai bhai eggs 6. Pehelwan Chole Bhature 7. Gangour ki malai kulfi Surat-nu-Jaman took us by a pleasant surprise and we cannot wait to explore the rest of the list!
